In our first session we will get to know each other, and I will offer a description of what to expect during future sessions. After our initial meeting, the sessions may involve a mixture of talking, movement, breath adaptation and breath practices, yoga philosophy, mantra and meditation. Each private lesson includes a drawing for your personal home practice, which can and will be adjusted and adapted as you adjust and adapt.

While it has been empirically demonstrated that yoga has substantial benefits, it also has risks that may include experiencing uncomfortable physical or emotional feelings, conflicts and/or struggles. It is not unusual for things to get worse before they get better. Moreover, the process is not predictably linear, and even when clients are feeling successful, periodic setbacks do occur. These should be expected and are a normal part of the growth/transformation process.
Transformation is absolutely possible, and I am here to support you by using the tools of yoga. I believe in working in a partnership with you. You have all your answers inside of you, and I see my job as being a guide and a witness to your process of transformation towards your highest potential.
Our first 4 sessions are reserved for gathering history, diagnostic assessment, goal formulation and the collaborative development of a personal plan. What I offer can be a more or less lengthy process depending upon you and your unique needs. If, following the assessment period, it becomes clear that what I offer is not best suited for your needs, I will work with you to identify a provider in the community better suited. I maintain a network of professional referrals with specialties’ different from my own for this purpose.
Private yoga lessons can involve physical touch, and touch is something you and I discuss both before and while it is happening. Touch can calm the nervous system, help bring awareness and attention to a body part, relieve tension and feel supportive. Whenever touch is involved, I will tell you what I am going to do and I will ask if the touch feels ok. Touch is not involved in every session or with every person, and I involve touch only if I think it would be an appropriate and helpful tool for you. Some people prefer not to be touched at all, and in those cases I do not incorporate touch. Some people find touch as a tool for calming, grounding and becoming more aware and present.
All student information will be kept strictly confidential unless you give written authorization. Except in emergencies, verbal authorization will not be sufficient. I, also, have a 24-hour cancellation policy and you will be charged half the session rate for not giving 24-hour notice.
